Rex-Cut Abrasives acquires Westfield Grinding Wheel Company’s Non-Woven Unitized and Convolute Wheels division.

Rex-Cut Abrasives, world renown manufacturer of cotton fiber abrasive deburring, blending, and finishing products, has acquired Westfield Grinding Wheel Company’s non-woven unitized and convolute wheel division. Westfield Grinding Wheel Company is located in Westfield, Massachusetts producing abrasive products since 1923 with a reputation for quality.

The acquisition was a strategic move to enhance and broaden its range of premium abrasives for deburring, blending, and finishing applications. Offering non-woven unitized convolute wheels will further increase Rex-Cut’s share in the industrial and welding markets it serves and provide more options to its global network of valued distributors, partners, and end user customers. The non-woven unitized and convolute wheels will be sold under the Rex-Cut name and brand Megabrite.

“The acquisition of Westfield is critical to our strategic objective for product expansion and the growth of our employee-owned ESOP company,” says Bob Costa, President of Rex-Cut Abrasives. Rex-Cut will move Westfields manufacturing equipment and capabilities to its Fall River, Massachusetts location and plans to be operational by late February or early March 2025.
