Congratulations to AV&R Aerospace for winning the FANUC America’s ASI 2014 Innovative System of the Year Award with its Jet Engine Blades Weld Blending and Profiling System. Its entry was selected as a finalist among 21 entries. Four finalists were selected for this Innovative System Award at this year’s FANUC Authorized System Integrator (ASI) Conference. The ASI audience of more than 300 attendees voted AV&R Aerospace for having the most innovative system.
The Jet Engine Blades Weld Blending and Profiling System has helped the Maintenance Repair and Overhaul (MRO) market meet the strict tolerances demanded for improved aerodynamics on blades and vanes for jet engines. The system reprofiles blades and vanes according to original part design, reaching a tolerance of plus-minus 37.5 microns (or 1.5 thousands of an inch).
This Blending and Profiling System is outfitted with Rex-Cut Abrasives Type 1 Smooth Touch wheels. We have worked with AV&R Aerospace to find the right abrasives to help their system create high precision profiles on blades without changing the shape of the part.
